Introduction to Face Painting
The most popular of all our classes. We try to make it easy and give you lots of handouts in your London School of Face Painting folder. The idea is that we show you exactly how to face paint, how to sit, what to say, and where to put the paint. It is a beginners' class but with only eight students and two tutors you get so much individual attention that if you are a natural genius we will notice and push you on so you will make the most of your day. There is now Part 1 and Part 2 as folk found it difficult to choose the next class! The two classes together build as a good grounding, but you don't have to take both, or in any particular order though we have designed one to follow on from the other! If you want to go professional and take the assessment (for insurance purposes) you should take an Introductory class as one of your minimum of three.   Booking Essential.

Starting Professional Face Painting

This is one of the classes students should take if they plan to do the London School of Facepainting Assessment (also useful for insurance purposes). The class covers a wealth of information on health and hygiene and discussion about face painting as a business as well as demonstrations and practice of designs that will help swell your portfolio. You will receive additional invaluable printed handouts including a Disclaimer as well as guidance on pricing, queue management and how to find work.
We vary the designs covered on the day to suit those attending, so practically anything practical can be demonstrated!  We also do a bit of role play to simulate the demands of 'proper work' under our guidance. This is a longer class and finishes at 4.30pm.

Anyone wishing to take their Assessment can do so on this day, and will need to bring their own kit in to be photographed.  Please let us know in advance if you want to do this!

Shape Changing

A more advanced London School of Facepainting class that takes face painting away from flat images and designs and shows how, by manipulating light and shade, 3D effects and trompe l'oeil illusions can be created. The designs tend towards scary horror faces and so this is a very good follow up class for students that enjoyed BOYS FACES or for those that don't understand how to shape shift!

Henna Heaven/Glitter Tattoos

We have had many requests for a Henna workshop which we are combining with a Glitter Tattoo workshop as the design process is similar. We have brought in an outside tutor, the very talented but approachable Asma Meer of Mad About Mehndi to give you insights into making henna paste, and the secrets of applying it. Bibi will follow this up with translating these designs showing the various techniques using adhesive and glitter for creating the increasingly popular glitter tattoos.

Colour and Blending Techniques

A second level class, and one of  our most popular! Here we really explore the potential of blending with face paints. One of the most satisfying skills is being able to use colours in a truly imaginative way and understanding the effect they have on each other as well as on the design. Sometimes all that is needed to finish a really well blended base is a few well placed black or white brushstrokes. However the well blended base is also the essential starting point for so many scenes and a thousand different faces.  Booking Essential.

Special Class with Sophia Leadill Taylor

We are very pleased to be hosting this class with guest tutor Sophia Leadill Taylor. A bit of a 'facebook sensation', and the scramble for her class at the UK Convention meant that a lot of painters couldn't get in! But thankfully here we have a whole day with Sophia.

The class will cover henna inspired designs, lace and fabric paint effects; Tribal, and 3-D shapes and shading - including how to incorporate and translate these techniques into face painting designs of your own.

The aim of the class will be to provide practical tools to create these effects, and to trouble shoot any problems that may occur along the way.

Then to take it all away and put your own spin on it :)

Improvers/Refresher Class

By special request - this is a class especially designed for people who did some training in the past, or haven't painted for a while and feel a bit rusty. Also, the world of facepainting had moved on a lot in the last 10 years, and thankfully public expectations are higher than before, so you may feel understandably nervous about re-entering our world. We would welcome anyone who wants to improve, the desire to get better is key to becoming a better painter!
